When we think of eternity, we usually think of the future “forever” and the past “time immemorial.” We cast our minds far into the future and plan out our lives and how we’re going to get there. We think about our past, and often we use our past for the reasons that we can’t do anything about the future.

But eternity also includes “right now.” Right now is the best time to do anything good. Right now is the culmination of the history of the world, and the culmination of your past. Right now is your tomorrow. I think Sammy Hagar wrote that, and Hagar was in the Bible, but it’s not the same Hagar.

One of the things we need to do in life is to make sure we are in the right place, and doing the right things, right now. In order to be in the right place now, where God wants us to be, doing what God wants us to do, we need to listen to him. If we are walking in the light of God, of Christ, of the Holy Spirit, and of their love for us, then we are doing well.

If we are not in the light, then right now is the time that we can change whatever in life we need to change. God has used our past to bring us to this point, whatever point we are at, and he will use our future to get us to future points. If you don’t have any idea of what you’re doing in life, God does. Believe in him and let him change you in his ways.

If you don’t have any idea of what God is doing in your life, then right now is the best time to get to know what he has in his plans for you. The prophets of the Old Testament and Christ and the disciples in the New Testament command us to “repent and be baptized.” God calls all of us to himself, every minute of every day. Why wait to answer him. Right now is the best time.
