…of the gospel

Everything a Christian disciple does should be done in the light of the Gospel. The Gospel about Jesus Christ should impact and influence every decision to act or not to act. The Gospel is the primary way we mark the passage of time.

What’s the Gospel? The Gospel is the sum total of the teachings of Scripture and the life of Christ about the promised Messiah.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4    Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…

If you believe this Gospel message, then you will have eternal life. You will have life, and have it more abundantly. Your more abundant life might come now, on earth, or it might only come after you have eternal life (abundant in riches and glory and quantity, inasmuch as you can measure years for the remainder of eternity).
